About Hayward and the Chippewa Flowage
The Chippewa Flowage is the crown jewel of Northern Wisconsin. It is a fully recreational 17,000 plus acre lake with over 200 islands that provide spectacular natural scenery. Over 85% of the Chippewa Flowage’s shoreline and islands are state owned, undeveloped and open to the public.
There are over 26 resorts on the Chippewa Flowage and many have a full service bar and restaurant. Resort and island hopping, along with skiing and tubing in between, can make for an awesome summer day adventure!
Looking for world-class fishing? The Chippewa Flowage is home to the world record muskellunge. Anglers enjoy walleye, large and smallmouth bass, northern pike, perch, crappie, bluegill and muskellunge. The average max depth of the Chippewa Flowage is around 30' but just outside Dream Big Bay is Moonshine Lake that is 90' deep.
Hayward Wisconsin is a scenic 25-minute drive from Dream Big Bay. Hayward is home to the American Birkebeiner Trail, Fresh Water Fishing Hall of Fame (home of the world-record muskellunge - 69-pound, 11-ounce), Lumberjack Show, Wilderness Walk Zoo and Hayward is dubbed the Golf Capital of Wisconsin with nine courses.
Downtown Hayward is filled with shops, dinning, coffee shops and more! Enjoy a day in town and while you are there, a be sure to check out: Firehouse Bakery and Deli, Coop’s Pizza, Treemblay’s Sweet Shop (your kids will LOVE Treemblay’s) or Hayward Mercantile Company
